Tyler Lapkin

Born and raised in North Lake Tahoe, Tyler Lapkin’s photography is rooted in a lifelong connection to the natural world. From the Sierra Nevada mountains where he learned to ski, to the Pacific coast where he discovered surfing at age twelve, his lens has always been drawn to the wild, the vast, and the quietly sacred.Tyler earned his degree in History at UC Santa Barbara, where he also studied Environmental Studies and Italian. Though once on the path to law school, he followed a deeper calling to Santa Cruz, where he earned a Master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has maintained a part-time acupuncture practice in Tahoe City since 2010, supporting others on their own paths to healing and balance. His love of photography emerged organically on long hikes, surf trips, and ski tours. It’s a way of seeing and remembering: a meditation on place, presence, and the poetry of light. Tyler is also a certified meditation teacher, trained by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, and regularly teaches courses that blend mindfulness with embodied awareness. He serves as a podcast producer and host for the Joseph Campbell Foundation, where he explores the enduring power of myth in modern life through The Podcast With A Thousand Faces. Tyler is available for creative projects that align with his passions: the environment, mindfulness, and outdoor living.
